April 2009

50 campers from McCords Hospital enjoyed a relaxing but exciting 5 day camp filled with fun and great weather at the unspoilt KZN beach. Here they discovered the joys of being young, leaving their troubles behind and learning about their environment in a safe and secure holiday setting with councillors who care deeply about their wellbeing.

Ikageng Itireleng AIDS Ministry – Soweto | Phiri Camp Kwalata Game Reserve in Dinokeng Gauteng
July 2009

An excited bunch of 52 girls joined us for an all- girl’s camp in the bush. During this week, they were pampered and treated as queens for the day with The Reach For A Dream Foundation. In addition, they also went on a game drive and were encouraged to have fun and just to be young, whilst learning about their environment and about themselves as young women.

Camp 6

CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa – Gauteng | Die Hoekie Camp Site
September 2009

70 campers arrived at Die Hoekie, on the Northern slopes of the Magaliesberg mountains for an amazing adventure filled with fun and exciting activities designed to show them that although they are being treated for serious illnesses, they are still able to do many things in a safe, protected environment outside of a hospital with the support of the medical team at camp. By the time they left at the end of the 5 day camp, not only were new friendships forged, but the children’s confidence levels were at an all-time high.

Camp 7

CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa – Western Cape | GlenCairn Camp Site Noordhoek
December 2009

34 campers joined Just Footprints and our friends from The Constantia Rotary Club at the fynbos-covered paradise in Noordhoek, to learn about their environment, how to have fun and how to be children again, despite the significant health challenges they face. For 5 days, they were able to push their own boundaries by participating in activities they may never have thought they would be able to do again. A trip to Seal Island was a real special treat for all the campers.
