Camp 1

CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa – Gauteng | Die Hoekie Camp Site
September 2008

81 eager campers joined us for 5 days of active sport, swimming, climbing wall excitement, art, music, dance and a varied program of fun camp activities in this our first Just Footprints Camp. They were given the opportunity to forget about their illness, to make new friends and to thoroughly enjoy what South Africa offers: sun, wilderness and amazing fauna and flora in a safe environment with medical support and at no cost to the campers.

Camp 2

Cotlands, Ikageng Itireleng AIDS Ministry and Sparrow School | Phiri Camp Kwalata Game Reserve in Dinokeng Gauteng
October 2008

48 campers joined us for a fun time away from their normal environment to enjoy one filled with sports such as swimming, volley ball, a climbing wall as well as toasting marshmallows and singing songs around the camp fire and enjoying the bright stars that fill the night skies in the African bush. Although geared towards having fun and forgetting about all the stresses of their normal lives, the campers discovered aspects of the environment that they had been unaware of and learnt important new life skills. They left the camp feeling empowered and much more confident in what they could do.

Camp 3

Charisma Drop In Centre HIV Pretoria | Phiri Camp Kwalata Game Reserve in Dinokeng Gauteng
December 2008

40 young and excited campers eagerly joined us for time away from their challenging circumstances to partake in activities filled with fun and action. Singing under the stars around the camp fire, playing sport in the wide open protected areas within the game reserve, swimming in the cooling waters of a muddy dam as well as enjoying just good old-fashioned camp fun were the order of the day. In between all this, they learnt about their environment, gained valuable life-skills and learnt more about themselves and forgot about their illness. All this in a safe and secure environment geared towards their needs.
